Safe together! Get permission before you dig!

It is a shared responsibility to prevent damage to pipelines and its surrounding environment. It is often human error that causes damage to pipelines that may put your safety, your community and the environment at risk. Whether you represent a construction company, are a private developer, an architect’s office or an adjacent landowner, please be aware of pipelines and get permission before you dig!
In order to ensure the safety of our long-range pipelines and its surrounding environment, NWO will need detailed information about your project in advance and in writing to grant permission before any construction or excavation work undertaken within the restricted area of the pipeline can begin. The documentation provided by you will be utilised for the survey and checks carried out for any possible impairment of our pipeline’s serviceability that might result from your project and results will be advised accordingly.
We provide this service free-of-charge!
You can address your enquiry to us by email, fax, or post. To facilitate swift and reliable processing, the documentation you submit should include:
- A description of the building project, the planned construction period, and where applicable the contracting authority.
- Maps and plans of the location described in the planned building project
- Telephone contact information and your postal address for any questions we may have.
By means of our representation of the exact route of the pipeline we give you an opportunity to orientate yourself and find out in whose area of responsibility your particular building project happens to be.
Please use the following contact information when communicating your enquiry:
Wilhelmshaven regional authority
(Lower Saxony not including the Grafschaft-Bentheim district)
Mülheim a. d. Ruhr regional authority
